Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better popularly known as Ari Lennox, is an American musician and singer hailing from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to be signed to J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. Her first EP, Pho which was released on 21 October 2016 was released by Dreamville Records. The singer began to earn recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It came out in May of 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her tracks to the internet in 2012, when she released her mixtape debut Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. Her uploads continued music online in 2014, including her self-released single Bound. On July 21 2015 she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes featuring the track Sweat It Out. Later that year her music began to circulate around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some potential references to Rihanna. The news was released on December 8th, that she'd been signed to Dreamville Records. She was featured in the album collaboration Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. Then, in October 2016 she dropped her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song. She also performed at the opening of The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. The singer also performed in the music videos Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas as her labelmates. The debut album of Ari Lennox Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The first single, Whipped Cream, from the album dropped on October 5, 2018, with unreleased music videos. The second single she released was called Grampa on the 9th of November. And on the 13th of November she dropped two more singles titled One and Pdigree. One and Pdigree. Then she appeared on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single on February 26 2019 to accompany her debut album with the same name. The music video debuted on the 20th of February to accompany the track. Within a matter of a week it was watched by more than 3,000,000 people. The singer was a supporting artist for 6LACK on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour during December 2018.
